A Glimpse Into Our Past
Who is Albi?
Albi is our College Mascot, symbolising the Spirit, Tradition and Community of our vibrant StC community.
Story of Albi:
In 1973 a student, John Bussa, designed an eagle mascot, which was sewn by Caroline Giles (parent or staff member).
Chris Virgen (1983) and his fellow seniors searched the sports storeroom at Albion and found the eagle costume. After dusting it off, Chris wore the costume on parade during war cry practise. The wings were worn by a fellow student on swimming carnival night.
During the 1984 swimming carnival, the eagle actually jumped off the 10m diving board and the costume was damaged and unable to be salvaged.
The seniors of 2007 wanted to capture the spirit of the Eagle by creating a mascot which was unveiled at the Formal the same year. Albi was named via a student competition; Louis Graham (2007) and current student, Shelbi Grixti beautifully made the link between our new mascot and the rich College heritage created at the Albion site.
